Nindanix 100 (Nintedanib) is used in people with diseases that cause scar tissue (fibrosis) to form deep within the lungs. The scar tissue thickens and becomes stiff over time, which can make it harder for your lungs to work. Decreased lung function can make it hard for you to breathe. Other medical problems can occur when your brain, heart, and other organs do not get enough oxygen.
Nindanix 100 is a small molecule tyrosine kinase inhibitor including the receptors platelet-derived growth factor receptor (PDGFR) α and β, fibroblast growth factor receptor (FGFR) 1-3, and VEGFR 1-3. In addition, Nindanix inhibits Lck (lymphocyte-specific tyrosine-protein kinase), Lyn (tyrosine-protein kinase lyn), Src (proto-oncogene tyrosine-protein kinase Src), and CSF1R (colony-stimulating factor 1 receptor) kinases. Nintedanib binds competitively to the adenosine triphosphate (ATP) binding pocket of these kinases and blocks the intracellular signaling cascades, which have been demonstrated to be involved in the pathogenesis of fibrotic tissue remodeling in interstitial lung diseases.
Nindanix is also used to treat chronic (long-lasting) interstitial lung disease in which the scar tissue keeps getting worse. Nindanix is also used to slow the decline in lung function in people with a disorder called systemic sclerosis-associated interstitial lung disease (sometimes called scleroderma-associated ILD). Nindanix is not a cure for IPF or ILD, but Nindanix can slow the effects of these diseases on your lungs.
Nindanix can cause birth defects or death in an unborn baby. Avoid getting pregnant while you are using this medicine and for at least 3 months after your last dose. Use effective birth control, with an extra barrier method (condom, diaphragm, cervical cap, contraceptive sponge).
