Nerlynx (Neratinib) is a medicine that targets proteins in cancer cells and stops the cancer cells from growing.
It is used to treat breast cancer. And also used to treat cancers such as leukemia, breast cancer, melanoma, lung cancer, and renal cancer. They are also used in the treatment of rheumatoid arthritis and to prevent organ transplant rejection. They work by stopping cancer cell growth and preventing the spread of the cells.
Nerlynx is used to treat a certain type of hormone receptor-positive breast cancer (breast cancer that depends on hormones such as estrogen to grow) in adults after treatment with trastuzumab (Herceptin) and other medications. Nerlynx is used along with capecitabine (Xeloda) to treat a certain type of advanced hormone receptor-positive breast cancer or breast cancer that has spread to other parts of the body after treatment with at least two other medications. Nerlynx is in a class of medications called kinase inhibitors. It works by blocking the action of an abnormal protein that signals cancer cells to multiply. This helps slow or stop the spread of cancer cells.
Nerlynx comes as a tablet to take by mouth. When Nerlynx is taken alone to treat breast cancer, it is usually taken with food once daily for one year. When Nerlynx is taken with capecitabine to treat advanced breast cancer or breast cancer that has spread to other parts of the body, it is usually taken once daily with food on days 1 to 21 of a 21-day cycle until your condition worsens or you develop serious side effects. Take Nerlynx at around the same time every day. Follow the directions on your prescription label carefully, and ask your doctor or pharmacist to explain any part you do not understand. Take Nerlynx exactly as directed. Do not take more or less of it or take it more often than prescribed by your doctor.
